Net metering, honestly
Net metering is the programme that lets your panels send power you do not use to the power company, which pays you back in bill credits. Many solar sellers count those credits at the price you pay for power. They are worth less, and our answer above already counts them at their true value.

01Power you buy costs about ₱14.74 to ₱14.96 for each unit (Meralco, September 2026; Visayan Electric, August 2026).
02Power you send out earns only about ₱9.70 (Meralco) or ₱8.12 (Visayan Electric) for each unit (pinas.solar guide, read September 2026).
03So solar power you use at home is worth about one and a half times (Meralco) to nearly twice (Visayan Electric) what power you send out earns. Run the fridge and the aircon while the sun is up. Our sums assume you use 60% at home, and you can change that.
04Signing up costs ₱7,000 to ₱15,000 once and takes one to three months (pinas.solar guide, read September 2026). Unused credits run out every six months on Visayan Electric and every year on Meralco.
